Foot problems and treatment
A lot of people forget to look after their feet but, as most of us are aware, when there is a problem with them, it can cause difficulties and discomfort.
Corns and Callus
Caused by continued friction on certain areas of the feet, it is hard skin that can become painful and sore. Corns are especially painful when direct pressure is applied.
The type of shoes that are worn can help alleviate the discomfort. The best treatment is to have them taken out by a professional. Corn plasters are not recommended as they can damage healthy skin around the corns and cause more pain and discomfort.
Verruca
Not only seen on children, verruca can be vey painful. They are easily transferred on to others so footwear is always advised to stop them spreading.
Treatments can be bought over the counter. A professional will take the top layer of callus off the verruca and apply the treatment to help the ointment get to the verruca fully.
Fungal nail infection
A very common complaint, the nail becomes discoloured and can startto come away from the nailbed.
It is very treatable with oitments bought over the counter, but needs regular application for 12 - 18 months.
Ingrown toenail
Is exactly what it sounds like, the nail starts to growinside the layers of skin.
The only way to treat these is to have them cut out by a professional. They can come back and sometimes a small procedure to remove part of the nail can be done to stop recurrence.
